Hi,
This is Sambit. I love to introduce myself as a amateur photographer who loves photographing nature and portraits. Adventure is in my blood. Well, not because I do a lot outdoor with my camera, but because myself in the profession of arms , I live by it. After doing numerous expeditions and treks I can only satisfy myself by trying diffrent things with varied interests. My other adventures activities include jungle camping, hot air ballooning, mountaineering, rock climbing, rappelling, mountain biking and white water rafting. Being in Army has not only made me stay close to the nature but also took me to places where its difficult for any other persons to explore. Be it the high reachs of Himalayas or the tremendous rapids of the Ganga, the trecherous mountains of Pir Panjal or the dense forests of Meghalaya, the glaciated terrains of the Tibetan plateu or the deserts of Rajastan, every where the nature provided me with heartfelt of adventure. So its a toast to the community who live, sleep and dream to explore the unexplored and spend a life of passion and deretmination. Hurrey.... |

hi again,
Rightly said that every declaration of independence is an act of adventure. It doesnt include trekking, mountaineering or back packing alone. Its the state of mind. My greatest adventure was a patrol where I was leading a team of 15 men in an inaccessable, rugged terrain in the tibetian plateu in chinese border. At a ht of 18,000ft to 22,000ft in an area with no living being around, it was a spine chilling experience. It was great not because the constant threat to our lives from enemy, but also we had to cross some of the greatest glaciers, ice walls, crevasses, fast flowing nullas, and stiff mountains. The climate was unfavourable and we were helpless. still the motivation level of my boys were strong enough to over come the greatest diffiulty and we could complete the mission. I owe my life to my boys who completed task not for fun or seeking adventure, but for safe guarding this counrty. my other adventure stories will follow. Watch this space. |

Life in a Jungle....
It was an horrible day. The whole day was spent on roaming with the map and compass. Still the destination was eluding us. Tacking in jungle was such a bad idea. It takes all of your concentration on each detail of the jungle. Be it track, the foot print, the assymentry in design pattern or even the twisting of a branch in the nearby bush, every time one has to be on his toes. You just cant ignore the sliestest of the space, where the scope for your error may cost you your precious life. Over top of that the hidden traps and the threat of IED makes life miserable. That why I hate the north east jungles. They are just like virgins. Calm, soothing and pleasurable, but when they turn, its gonna a life long affair. The day gave way to the night and we were rest less. The burgeon bags on our back started taking thier toll. Now even the light of smoke can give away your much earned surprise. We sat down on the small track, anticiapating some rest. The moon was glowing like a silver oak. Had not been an audacious chase, I would have dreaming for a romantic stroll. Chiks here in this part of the world are always a sports. On verge of closing my eyes for giving myself some rest, I took a round of the awsome sight around me. It was just another village with few houses along the track. And at this time here the whole world goes to hibernation, ofcourse except a few like us who have got this sleeping disorder. At the corner of my eye, I can suddenly sense some movement in the horizon which means a few meters away during night in this jungle. Suddenly my senses intrigued the change and as the mind registers it, here went the bullets with striking accuracy. Duck, dash, down, crawl and run for cover.. ... ohh...I taste my first blood.. |
