THE TRIP
May 28th-June 6th, 2009-

78mm Adventures is gearing up to take you into the forbidden lands for 10 days on one road trip.
In some of the most challenging conditions for life, discovering new dimensions of India with self indulging camping & cooking - and support. Shooting photons of our experience.
Sharing an open minded quest for sustainable lifestyle alternatives, amidst the unchartered Himalayas of Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti.

The Ride throughout the event will be about 5-6 hours daily. This leaves us with good amount of time to curl up in the lap of nature and for exploratory excursions.
We will sprinkle the trip with activities like rappelling, rock climbing, trekking, folk dance etc. for the overall experience. We will be escorted by a very able and willing crew in jeeps who will prepare the sites for us in anticipation of us. There will also be a van traveling as the last man following behind us with a Doctor, a Mechanic, extra supplies, fuel et al. (Yeah.. we are folks with a plan!) All meals are included. Everything that will be needed for the journey, including permits for the areas we visit, breakfast, lunch and dinner (non-veg and veg), homemade juices (kiwi, plum, apples) and basics will be in tow in our trusty li’l van!

The trip will officially start from Naggar and hence all the participants need to reach thr by 28th May. And about reaching there.
We can do transfer arrangements from Delhi to Naggar and back via Volvo etc.
Enthusiasts on their own bikes and jeeps will also start from Delhi to reach Naggar, if possible we can team up with them.

What are the essentials that we should be carrying with us?? huh.gif

Hi Insane ... now u gotto read this:

CHECKLIST FOR ESSENTIAL PERSONAL ITEMS you might want to refer:
01. Warm Sleeping Bag till 0'C (we will also provide you one)
02. Woolens/thermal inner wear
03. Wind/rain proof jacket
04. Comfortable hiking/trekking shoes; spare sandals
05. Warm cotton/ woolen socks
06. Water Bottle - at least 1 Lit. (We will be providing mineral water throughout the trip)
07. Flashlight and spare batteries - important
08. Sun Shade/Hat with Brim/woolen hat/gloves
09. Sunglasses
10. Gloves Woolen or leather
11. Insect Repellent (if you are prone to bites)
12. Rucksack/ shoulder bag to carry your stuff
13. Reusable clothing, couple of jeans/cargos and sweatshirts + winter wear.
14. Carry mat (optional)
15. Small daypack to carry camera, packed lunch, water bottle and wind/rain jacket on a walk. Etc,

Some cosmetics
16. Sunscreen/Sun block
17. Vaseline/Lip Salve
18. Personal Toiletries – towel /soap etc.

Good footwear is very important – most trails in the Indian Himalayas are pretty rough and steep so a comfortable and sturdy pair of shoes with a good grip becomes important. Socks, both for walking and a pair of warm ones for keeping feet warm inside the tent at night, is a good bet. Avoid new shoes or boots which could cause severe blisters.

Note: Participants are encouraged to travel as light as possible while securing all essentials. The ideal would be a good rucksack / duffel bag (suitcases get thumbs down ) that u can easily carry on you, even if you won’t need to. An extra daypack is a practical and experienced suggestion. Basics like a flashlight, a Swiss knife, personal accessories and water etc can be kept accessible on one’s person using it.
Another point: Some things can be shared among friends (like cameras…)
while some things can’t (uh… chaddis anyone ?!!) wink.gif

This was pretty long... but not exhaustive ... did I mention... don't forget to bring the Rascal kid in you all.
